Mrs. Olive Josephine "Ollie" Goetchius, age 95, passed away Monday evening, July 2, 2007. She was born in Fremont, MI on February 2, 1912 to Almond "Jack" and Myrtle (Lowe) Dake and had been a life resident of the Muskegon area. Olive was retired from Swenson Monument where she was the office manager. She was a very gifted woman and talented artist. During the war, Olive was one of the original Rosie the Riveters at Continental Aviation. At age 93, she was still doing what she loved, her Saturday outings going from yard sales to flea markets, visiting with people. On December 13, 1941, Olive married Clarence I. "Curly" Goetchius and he preceded her in death along with 1 son, James; 1 granddaughter, Sherry Coon; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by 3 children, Dorothy (Donald) Schendel of Westland, MI, William Lee "Bill" Goetchius of Muskegon, Kathy (Robert) Coon of Muskegon; 6 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Arthur (Rose) Dake; 1 brother-in-law, Earl Goetchius and many nieces and nephews. SERVICES will be 11AM Saturday at Wolf Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Cabot officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. INTERMENT will be in Egelston Township Cemetery. MEMORIALS in Olive's name may be made to Wolf Lake United Methodist Church.
