Nancy McCallum was an easygoing lady who enjoyed the comforts of a simple and honest lifestyle. She was perfectly happy spending time with her loved ones and didnt need thousands of flashy distractions in her life. Nancy was a fun and caring woman who made everyone feel special when she was near. Nancy Lee Panici was born on December 28, 1942, in Muskegon, Michigan to Michael and Joyce (Charron) Panici. She was later joined by her younger sister, Patricia, who completed the Panici household. Nancy had a wonderful childhood growing up in Muskegon. She and her sister were close their entire lives, and shared many great childhood memories. Her mother was a traditional homemaker, while her father provided for the family as a tool and die maker. He also did cement work on the side, and it was said he just about poured every other driveway in Muskegon. Although he was proficient at cement work, her father made great homemade pizzas too. The Panici family was very close knit and had lots of relatives nearby, whom they visited regularly. They all attended St. Jeans Catholic Church together too. For education, Nancy attended the Muskegon Catholic schools and although school wasnt her favorite thing, she went on to graduate from Catholic Central High in 1961. Nancy then went to work as a mail clerk at Pipple-Patterson Printing, and it was here she met her future husband, Harry McCallum. The two soon began dating and loved to go dancing together; Nancy was a huge fan of Dick Clarks American Bandstand. Hopelessly in love, Nancy and Harry were happily married on October 10, 1964, and had three wonderful children: Deborah, Michelle and Michael. The couple made a home for their family on Pontaluna Road in Fruitport, where the kids all attended St. Marys Catholic School in Spring Lake, and graduated from Fruitport High School. They were also members of St. Marys Church in Spring Lake. Nancy was the definition of motherhood. From dance recitals and concerts to sporting events and school activities, her passion was to support her family. Though sometimes her zealousness embarrassed her kids, they loved and appreciated her all the same. When it came to Nancys leisure time, she loved watching the QVC Channel for hours on end. Later, she became a die-hard fan of Muskegon Catholic Central High School sports, and loved going to football games. In fact, Nancy supported them all the way to their championship games in the Silverdome in Detroit. Sadly, Nancy was diagnosed with Dementia several years ago, which was hard on the entire family. As her illness progressed, Nancy went to live in a nursing home, where she was regularly visited by her husband and family. Surrounded by the love of her family, Nancy died on Christmas Day, 2008, at the age of 65. A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Nancy will be greatly missed and remembered always. Nancy is survived by her husband, Harry McCallum of Fruitport; children: Deborah (Trent) Paynich of Grand Rapids, Michelle (Mike) Lovse of Grandville, Michael McCallum of Muskegon; grandchildren: Brooke Lovse, Jada Lovse; mother, Joyce Panici; sister, Patricia Swisher of Muskegon; special aunt, Mary Swanson; many uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews; and her cat, Roxy. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Panici. Funeral services for Nancy will be held on Monday, December 29, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church - Spring Lake, with Fr. Ken Schichtel presiding. Interment will be at Fruitport Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit her family on Sunday, December 28, from 2-5 p.m. at Clock Life Story Funeral Home - Muskegon.
