Nancy Ann Bozell, age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 9, 2025. Nancy was born in Muskegon, Michigan on August 27, 1932, to Arthur and Emma (Rogers) Brainard. Nancy graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1950, where she was editor of her class yearbook. She married William R. Bozell in 1951. Six children came from the union: Kathryn (Doug) Dekker, Thomas Bozell, Candice Dault, Susan (Chris) Carriere, James (Mary) Bozell and Julie (Matthew) Bond.


Nancy also leaves 12 Grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Holcomb, Jillane (Aaron) VanAntwerp, Julie (Fritz) Schirmacher, Joshua Dekker, Jamie (Lee) Marine, Jeffrey (Laura) Dault, Katie (Cliff) Shaut, Alex (Becky Yauch) Carriere, Drew (Nichole Postema) Bozell, Molly Bozell, Cortney (Trevor) DeWitt, Katelyn Carlson; 17 Great-Grandchildren, and her brother Jim (Jan) Brainard and their sons. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Tom Brainard, her son Tom Bozell, son-in-law Gregory Dault, and Great Grandchild, Corey VanAntwerp.


She was employed at Hackley Hospital for 36 years, retiring in 2002. Nancy was a Girl Scout leader for many years and was also active in Glenside and St. Mary's P.T.A.s when her children were in school. Knowing the importance of supporting her children in all their endeavors, Nancy always attended her children's events, rain or shine. She also enjoyed traveling with Orchard View Travelers with good friend Elma Bosma (deceased) and cherished her friendship with childhood friend and classmate Mary Burk. After raising six children and retiring from full-time work, she packed bags for the Old Newsies/Goodfellows for 12 years and became a reading mentor for Muskegon Public schools with good friend Marva Ortquist and enjoyed that for 13 years. Nancy was an avid reader. She also knitted and crocheted hats, mittens, and scarves, and over 40 afghans for members of her family over the years. Nancy was a strong, determined, and proud woman and will be missed by all that knew her.


MEMORIAL SERVICE


Friday, May 16, 2025, 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church - Marian Chapel with Fr. Steven Geerling officiating. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery.


VISITATION


One hour prior to the service at the church. MEMORIALS: St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, The American Heart Association, or Harbor Hospice.
