Myrtle L. Salacina, age 82, died September 10, 2007 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence in Muskegon. Myrtle was born on September 8, 1925, in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Arvillia and Pinknea Claypool. On October 3, 1942, she married Adolph (Abe) Salacina, and he preceded her in death on March 5, 1999. Myrtle was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening with her late husband. Both are remembered for the beautiful flowers and produce grown at their home in east Muskegon. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Judy (Ed) Windberg of Belgium, Wisconsin, granddaughters, Brenda Klettke, of Florida, and Rhonda Windberg, of Wisconsin. Her son Gary (Cathy) Salacina, of Muskegon, Michigan, granddaughters, Christine Nelson, Amy Salacina, Sarah Salacina, and her grandson Andy Salacina, all of Muskegon. Other grandchildren include, Roger Salacina, Jr. of Muskegon, Lisa Salacina of Arizona, and Wendy Tober of Muskegon, along with nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Hartman, and her son Roger Salacina, Sr.; a great granddaughter, Caitlyn; her parents, and thirteen brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held at the Ever Rest Funeral Home and Chapel, 1783 E. Keating Ave. on Thursday, September 13, 2007 from 1 to 3 p.m. A short service will be held at 3 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Private interment for the family will be held. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at the Poppen Hospice Residence for their care, kindness and support to Myrtle and all of the family during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence.
