Morris D. "Morrie" Smedley SMEDLEY, MR. MORRIS D. "Morrie" Egelston Twp. Mr. Morris D. Smedley, age 80 passed away peacefully Friday evening at a local care home following a long illness. Mr. Smedley was born on July 27, 1925 in Lansing, MI to Morris and Mary (Ball) Smedley and moved to Muskegon in 1932. He married the former Lucille Rogers in Muskegon on October 11, 1945. She preceded him in death in 2001. Morrie was formerly employed at Muskegon Reclaiming & Excavating and retired in 1992 from Standard Automotive. SURVIVORS: 3 sons, David V. (Jeanne) Smedley, Terry L. Smedley and Jerry D. Smedley; 5 daughters, Linda L. Lasser, Nancy M. (Steve) Modjeska, Donna M. (Thomas) Barnes, Brenda K. (Rodney) Rogers and Janet S. (Raymond) Lydens; Son-in-law, Terry Keenan; 2 brothers, Howard "Donny" Smedley and Clifford Smedley; sister, Cindy Bush and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Keenan in 1991. FUNERAL SERVICE: Will be held at the Lee Funeral Home, 2812 Fifth St. Muskegon Heights, Tuesday, 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Allan J. Engstrom presiding. INTERMENT: Egelston Twp. Cemetery. VISITATION: This evening 6-8 P.M. MEMORIAL: American Diabetes Association.
