CASSELL-ROOSEN, MRS. FLORENCE Muskegon, MI Mrs. Florence ''Miss Flo'' Cassell-Roosen, age 67, passed away Friday, September 19, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Chicago, Il on April 15, 1936 to Marvin & Viola Kevern Cassell & married Warren Roosen on October 15, 1982. In 1952, she established Cassell Dance Studio at the age of 16. She graduated from Muskegon High School in 1954. Florence was very active in the Port City Playhouse, Civic Opera & the Muskegon Civic Theater as a performer & choreographer. She choreographed over 40 shows during her affiliation with these groups. She was very instrumental in the establishment of the Western Michigan Chapter of Checchetti Ballet & was a member of Dance Masters of America. She studied in California & New York. She was asked to join the George Ballanchine Dance Company & the Rockettes but declined because of her business & family. Florence was a volunteer at the Oshkosh Air Show in WI. She enjoyed flying with her husband, gardening, sailing & doting on her grandchildren. SURVIVORS Husband, Warren; 2 sons, Phillip Bishop & Joseph Michelle Bishop; 1 daughter, Miya Peter Rollenhagen; 5 grandchildren, Kalie, Amber, Michael, Carlin & Cole, all from Muskegon; 1 sister, Phyllis Raymond Merrick; nephews, Michael & Matthew of Stillwell, KS; 7 step- children, Warren Roosen, Mark Roosen, Margaret Ann Schlump, Robert Roosen, Jeni Roosen, Melissa Polsinelli & Jimmy Roosen; 9 step-grandchildren & former husband, Clifford Bishop. MEMORIAL CELEBRATION A Memorial Celebration of Life & Dance will be held Saturday, October 4, 2003, 6:00 PM at Mona Shores High School Auditorium with Rabbi Alan Alpert officiating. VISITATION Saturday, October 4, 2003, 5-6 PM & following the service in the lobby at Mona Shores High School Auditorium. MEMORIAL: Please consider the Florence Cassell Dance Scholarship Fund C/O Muskegon Community Foundation. This fund was established in honor of her 50 years of teaching. By contributing to this fund, it will allow students to dance in the memory of Flo Cassell. Clock - Muskegon
