Mildred Wickwire

Mrs. Mildred Wickwire, age 90, of Ferrysburg passed away Saturday, October 4, 2008 at her home. She was born January 14, 1918 in Walkerville, MI to Sam and Eva (Raby) Kirwin. On January 14, 1943 in Buffalo, NY she married John H. Wickwire who preceded her in death on July 23, 1992. Mildred had attended Western Michigan University for 4 years and was a retired school teacher, serving the Manistique Public Schools for many years. In 1978 she moved back to Walkerville from Upper Peninsula Michigan to care for her mother. She enjoyed reading and also loved working puzzles. Mildred is survived by her 3 daughters; Linda Jenerou of Spring Lake, MI, Jan (John) Wilson of Hopkins, MI, and Rita (Michael) Hyland of Tucson, AZ; son, Lee (Janet) Wickwire of Gulliver, MI; 9 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren, 4 great-great- grandchildren; 3 sisters; Thelma Tracy of Muskegon, MI, Helen Eason of Alabama, and Arlene Fairchild of Hesperia, MI; and brother, Max (Dolly) Kirwin of Hesperia, MI. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bill Jenerou, 2 sisters, Ruth Helm and Mable Fairchild; and 3 brothers, John, Bryce, and Wayne Kirwin. The Funeral Service for Mildred will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Private family burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Walkerville. Friends may meet with the family 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
