Mildred Elizabeth Connell peacefully ended her journey on earth Friday, November 23, 2007. She was born on May 20, 1914, in Muskegon, to Otto and Edith (Erickson) Johnson. She attended Muskegon High School and worked in food services there. She married Kenneth Connell on April 19, 1947, in Whitehall. Mildred helped Ken run Connells's Market in Whitehall and later worked at Cole's Cleaners, where she was a seamstress. She attended Whitehall Congregational Church and was very active in the ladies groups. Her love has shown through her hands as she gave to her family and friends. Mildred will always be remembered for her Swedish Rye Bread, pancakes and raspberry pies. Also for her layettes for the poor, thousands of knitted baby hats for Hackley Hospital and her mittens for Muskegon County children. Her love will stay with her family and friends in all the quilts she made to cover them. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother and she will be greatly missed by her children, Kathy (Carl) Olson of Muskegon and Richard (Laura) Connell of Whitehall; grandchildren, Karla Cheatum, Craig (Beth) Olson, Kimberly (Todd) Gilchrist and Kerri (Jeremy) Bernhardt; great-grandchildren, Dustin, Kelsee, Jaden, Adrianna, Rylan, Gavin and Addyson. She will celebrate the rest of her journey with her Lord in Heaven and with her husband Ken, and brothers, Clifford and Gordon, and her many friends and family waiting for her. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, December 1, 2007, at 3:00 PM, at White Lake Congregational UCC with the Rev. Keith Koebel and the Rev. Pam Koebel officiating. DONATIONS: Meals on Wheels, 1540 W.
