Michael Sumner

Michael William Sumner, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 79. Born in Detroit, MI on June 10, 1946, to Robert & Pauline (Bart) Sumner, Michael lived a life filled with warmth, laughter, and dedication, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Michael graduated from Osborn High School in Detroit and went on to earn his Associate's Degree at Wayne State University. He dedicated over 30 years of his professional life to AAA Insurance Company in Livonia, where he thrived as a Sales Trainer. His patience, knowledge, and enthusiasm for his work inspired countless colleagues and clients alike.

Outside of his professional achievements, Michael was a devoted family man. He cherished camping trips with his beloved wife, exploring the great outdoors in their RV and creating treasured memories across the country. His adventurous spirit was matched only by his kindness and the deep love he held for his family.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Lisa LaFrance; son, James Sumner; four adored grandchildren, Griffin and Ethan Sumner, Aidan and Delaney Bilicki; brothers, Robert Sumner; and his cherished nephews, Mark, Michael, and Jeffrey Sumner. Each of their lives has been touched forever by his unwavering love and support. Michael was preceded in death by his wife Naomi Sumner in 2020 and his daughter, Amy Bilicki 2021.

In this time of sorrow, the family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support received from the community in honoring Michael and celebrating the legacy he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered, forever living on in the hearts of those he loved.
