Michael A Mangino

Mr. Michael A Mangino, age 87, of Muskegon, passed away Thursday December 11, 2008. Michael was born in Endicott, NY on September 1, 1921, the son of Marino and Antonia (Mangino) Mancini of Italy. He spent time fighting for his country during WWII, and then came home to marry the love of his life, Pauline J Cieman on June 6, 1945 in Endicott, NY. They celebrated 59 years together and had four children before Pauline passed away on January 2, 2004. Michael worked as an air traffic controller for the Army and then as a civilian in Grand Rapids, MI and lastly in Muskegon for approx 30 yrs. Mike and Paulie spent many Friday nights with their friends and their children's friends playing cards and having a good time with all. Christmas's were an extra special time for the Mangino's and for many a Christmas Eve, you could hear their house ring with laughter. His greatest love was his children and his Paulie, with whom he will spend Christmas this year. Michael has left behind his children, Michael E (Lynn) of Ohio, Linda J (David) Powers of Muskegon, Paula A. (Kevin) Grover of Ohio and Martin J (Janice) of Virginia to celebrate his life. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren as well one brother, Nicholas of NY, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. No Funeral or Memorial service will be held per his request. Contributions can be made to Harbor Hospice.
