Michael (Mike) Andrew Hansen, lovingly known as "The Bread Man," was born December 16, 1951, to Wallace and Beryl Hansen in Fruitport. He passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his family, on March 2, 2026.

Mike graduated from Fruitport High School and later from the University of Michigan. He lived on the cherished family farm, later fondly known as "The Marsh Farm," where he raised Arabian horses and shared his love of farming with his family.

For almost 35 years, Mike worked for Aunt Millie's Bakeries, delivering bread to local businesses. To many, he wasn't just the delivery driver he was "Mike the Bread Man." He was known everywhere he went, and everywhere he went, he was loved.

In 1989, he married Paula (Ennes), affectionately known as "Shorty." The two were introduced by a mutual friend, and their very first date was spent horse riding. Mike later said that when he saw how Shorty handled a horse, he knew she was the one. With that ride, he not only found his partner but built the life they would share together. Through that marriage, he gained a bonus daughter, April, and later welcomed two more daughters, Sally and Catherine. Mike taught his girls the art of sarcasm and humor, two things he had perfected. He also passed down his love of farming, horse riding, and working the land.

Anyone who met Mike described him as sweet, kind, and incredibly smart. Everyone who knew him has been entertained (or occasionally tortured) by his wonderfully lengthy stories and endless bits of random knowledge. He had a talent for taking the scenic route in conversation but he always got to the point eventually.

He loved farming, raising horses, tending his garden, making bread, and, of course, playing nightly war games with his best friend, Marv.

Mike is survived by his wife Paula; his bonus daughter April (Joe); daughters Sally (Tony) and Catherine (Anthony); and his beloved grandchildren Kailynn, Emma, Elora, Jacob, Corbin, and Elizabeth.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 20th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Ravenna Conservation Club 2530 South Slocum Road in Ravenna.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Paula, as Mike did not carry life insurance.

Mike's stories may have been long, but his love for his family was steady and unwavering. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and undoubtedly still finishing a story somewhere.
