Michael Gautraud Profile Photo

Michael J. Gautraud, age 56, loving and generous father, husband, brother, uncle and son, passed away April 24, 2007, surrounded by his family. He was born to Michael G. and Ann E. (Riley) Gautraud in New York, New York, March 19, 1951. He moved to Muskegon in 1961. He was an alumni of Sacred Heart School, Catholic Central High School and graduated with honors from Ferris State College School of Pharmacy in 1974. He married the former Patricia Prekosovich in Muskegon in August 1977. He will always be remembered as the pharmacist of Edgewood Pharmacy in Whitehall. A tragic car accident in 1988, which left him a paraplegic, caused him to give up his life passion as a pharmacist. Despite this he remained an inspiration to his family and friends, always keeping his sense of humor and devotion to his children, Erin, John, and Kay, and never losing his zest for life, due in no small way to the loving and devoted care by his nurses and aides. He loved and was loved by his brothers & sisters, and nieces & nephews. He was a true Michigan sports fan as evident by his password being "1redwingnut". He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Muskegon Yacht Club. Michael is survived by his parents, Michael and Ann Gautraud of Muskegon; 1 son, John Gautraud of Kalamazoo; 2 daughters, Erin (Bill) O'Brien of Muskegon and Kay Gautraud of California; brothers and sisters, Richard (Peg) Gautraud of Kentucky, Robert (Kim) Gautraud of North Muskegon, Daniel Gautraud of Wisconsin, Patricia (Dennis) Quinn of Whitehall, Margaret (John) Urban of Illinois, Kathleen (Craig) Singer of Georgia, Ann (Bruce) Pierce of Whitehall; and Joy Gautraud of Whitehall. He was preceded in death by a brother, Peter on November 1, 2001. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held Saturday 1 P.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Montague with Fr. Robert Hart presiding. INTERMENT: Mount Calvary Cemetery. VISITATION: Friday 6-8 P.M. at the Lee Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider the American Diabetes Association.
