Mr. Michael "Mic" John Furbush, age 64, beloved husband, father and friend, peacefully fell into God's arms surrounded by family and friends on Sunday evening, April 22, 2007. He was born June 20, 1942 in Muskegon to the late John and the late Hazel (Carney) Furbush. Mic served our country in the United States Army. Mic was a kind, genuine man with a gentle soul who touched countless lives throughout his 64 years on this earth. He was a member and Deacon at Fellowship Reformed Church. Mic had worked at Howmet, Teledyne, Structural Concepts and Johnson's Great Outdoors. He helped found and lead several hunting and fishing organizations including Walleyes for Tomorrow and Delta Waterfowl, and was a Hunter Safety Instructor. A spirited outdoorsman to the end, Mic's passion for hunting and fishing stretched far beyond his love for the sport. The grace and beauty of God's earth and the camaraderie of close friends were a deeply spiritual experience for him. Mic's life demonstrated a unique ability to balance between family, work and play with integrity. His love for Jesus was the thread woven throughout the tapestry of his life, holding each stitch in place. Besides his parents, John and Hazel, Mic was preceded in death by his daughter, Michele Oklad LeClair, and Michele's mother, Linda Rankin. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; two sons, Michael, Jr. and Matthew; grandchildren: Joshua and Jason Oklad, Jenna (Chris) McFarland, Justin Sikkenga, and Katie Lynn LeClair; one great granddaughter, Madison Nygard; and his brother, Dan (Evelyn) Furbush. FUNERAL SERVICES for Mic will be Thursday, April 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Reformed Church, 4200 E. Apple Ave with Pastor Greg VanderMeer officiating. VISITATION will be Wednesday evening, April 25th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ever Rest Funeral Home & Chapel, and one hour prior to his service on Thursday (10 to 11 a.m. at the church). Interment in Egelston Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Mic's family, c/o Margaret Furbush.
