HITSMAN JR. MEREDITH W. 'MERTZ' Muskegon formerly of Grand Haven Mr. Meredith ''Mertz'' W. Hitsman Jr., age 68, died Friday, August 6, 2004. He was born in Grand Haven, on October 22, 1935 to Meredith W. & Anna M. Coveny Hitsman, Sr. and married the former Eva Rance on July 11, 1964. Mr Hitsman had been employed as a Truck Driver at Michigan Ash. He also had been employed at Spinners Septic Service and Spinners Gas and Covenience Store. He was a veteran of the US Army. Mertz enjoyed hunting, fishing and Northern Michigan and was a Citizens Band Radio operator known as ''Big Daddy''. SURVIVORS Wife, Eva; 2 sons, Meredith ''Bill'' Karen Hitsman III of Grand Haven and Brandon Hitsman of Grand Rapids; Grandchildren, Kodie, Kyle, Tyler, Trent Hitsman, Joel Rangel, David, Alan Sanger, Marilyn Grace, Alisha Robinson, Todd Deal and Jennifer Buzell; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 1 daughter in law, Charlene Robinson of Fruitport; 5 brothers, George Nancy Hitsman of Spring Lake, Jerry Dethie Hitsman of Zeeland, Larry Hitsman of Grand Haven, Gordon Rose Hitsman of Grand Haven and Denny Cheri Hitsman of Muskegon; Stepchildren, Nelva Cliff Scherer of South Carolina and Jose Rangel of Grand Haven. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother, Ed Hitsman and Stepson, Rick Robinson. SERVICE Wednesday, August 11, 2004, 1:00 PM at Clock Funeral Home, Grand Haven, with Rev. Sal Pirrotta officiating. Interment at Historic Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Sgt. Alvin Jonker VFW Post 2326 of Grand Haven. VISITATION Tuesday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home, Grand Haven. MEMORIALS: May be directed to the family.
