Max J. Gilbert

GILBERT, MR. MAX J. Fruitport Mr. Max J. Gilbert, age 77, died Monday, June 6, 2005. He was born in Conklin, MI on June 23, 1927 to George O. & Julia Hile Gilbert & married the former Virginia M. Essenberg on November 26, 1949. Mr. Gilbert served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force. He had been the former owner of Village Inn from 1973 - 1984 & was a retired truck driver. Mr. Gilbert was a lifetime member of Fruitport V.F.W. & a former member of Cloverville Eagles & American Legion. SURVIVORS Wife, Virginia; 1 son, Jeffery S. Clara Gilbert of Burgaw, NC & children, Collette, Terri, Angela, Jeffery II, Shannon 2 daughters, Valerie Gilbert Rene Ayala of Battle Creek, MI & children, Adrienne Gale Gary Houghtaling of Lapeer, MI & children, Genna 9 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Linda Ed Helton of Fruitport & Gerri Bill Ruzinski of Grant, MI; many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Goldie Johnston & Elsie Hall. SERVICE Saturday, June 11, 2005, 11:00 AM at Clock Chapel with Pastor Tom Helton officiating. Interment at Fruitport Mausoleum. VISITATION Friday, 1-4 & 6-8 PM at Clock Funeral Home. MEMORIAL: American Heart Association. Clock - Fruitport
