Mary Elisabeth "Bette" Westfall

Mary Elisabeth "Bette" Westfall (nee Cartwright), age 82, passed away November 28. Born in Detroit on April 18, 1925, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Cartwright. She grew up in Detroit and graduated from McKenzie High. In 1947 she earned her nursing degree from Mercy College. She was married in Detroit on October 23, 1948 to the late Dr. Edwin J. Westfall who died in Troy on July 26, 2001. She is survived by her two sons, Edwin (Beth) Westfall of Sugar Grove, North Carolina and Robert (Joan) Westfall of Bethel, Maine, and three daughters, Kathy (John) Martin of Spring Lake, Karen Westfall (Dave Maurer) of White Lake, and Kris (Shawn) Knipe of Golden, Colorado. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren: Audra, Sarah, Adam, Rachel, Katie, Lauren, Ashleigh, Elisabeth, Brandon, and Oliver and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Thaddeus; and she was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Jayleigh. A Memorial Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 4300 Walnut Lake Road, West Bloomfield, Michigan on December 6 at 10:30am.
