Mary Ann Sandling, age 74, of Spring Lake passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007, at her home. She was born August 13, 1933, in Indianapolis, IN, to Maurice and Alta (Nyhuis) Bennett. On July 22, 1955, she married Robert J. Sandling in Milwaukee, WI. He preceded her in death on October 28, 2002. Mary moved to Spring Lake from Eastmanville, MI, twenty years ago. She spent many years lovingly caring for her family. Her strong faith in the Lord sustained her over the years since the death of her dear husband, Robert. She took great comfort in knowing she would be meeting her Savior as well as joining the love of her life during her courageous battle with cancer. It brought Mary great joy to entertain in her beautiful lakeside home. She never forgot a detail when she hosted the many dinners, showers and parties in her home over the years. Mary enjoyed life to its fullest, always making those around her comfortable and included. She is and will always be, a true inspiration to all those who knew and loved her. Survivors include two daughters, Heather (Jamie) Cloetingh of Kalamazoo and Georgeanne (Dennis) Anderson of Schoolcraft; a son, Robert "Rob" J. (Chris) Sandling, Jr. of Comstock Park; five grandchildren: Hillary and Connor Cloetingh, Jenna and Hannah Anderson, and Jennifer Sandling; two sisters, Dolores Day of Colorado Springs, Co, Phyllis Andre of Milwaukee, WI, a brother Richard of Hales Corners, WI and several nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held. Memorial contributions in Mary's name may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation and also Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
