Mary Ellen Rust RUST, MRS. MARY ELLEN (Wife of Larry) Muskegon Mrs. Mary Ellen Rust, age 79, passed away Thursday morning, December 29, 2005 at a local nursing home. She was born June 9, 1926 in Central Lake, MI to Francis and Anabel (Carpenter) Hardy and lived most of her life in the Muskegon area. On May 8, 1947, she married Lawrence "Larry" Rust in Muskegon and he survives her. Prior to her retirement in 1980, she worked 17 years as a bar tender for 46 Bar. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed card games, especially "Crazy 8's", which was her favorite game for over 40 years. She was a lifetime member of the women's auxiliary at VFW Post #3734 and a lifetime member of the women's auxiliary at DAV Chapter #11. SURVIVORS include her husband of 58 years, Larry Rust of Muskegon; 4 children, Sandra (Marvin) Frein, Susan (Tom) Bowen, Edward (Gayle) Rust, Claude (Connie) Rust all of Muskegon; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Francis Hardy of Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Marjorie Flaska of Hesperia and Alice Lennox of Whitehall; 2 sisters-in-law, Edonna Norris of Muskegon and Alice Hardy of Grand Haven. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Baker and her son, Richard Lawrence Baker; 2 brothers, William and Kenneth Hardy; and 2 sisters, Stella Fairbanks and Betty Williams. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Sytsema Funeral Home 737 Apple Avenue (231) 726-5210 with the Rev. Mary Ivanov officiating. INTERMENT will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION with Mary's family will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM Monday at the funeral home.
