Mary Catherine Payne

Payne, Mary Catherine Muskegon, Michigan Mary Catherine Payne, age 93, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2020 after 25 years of teaching and a lifetime of community service. She was born in Iron Mountain, MI on December 3, 1926 to Keeler & Myrtle (Chappel) Calvi and had been married to William Payne who preceded her in death. Mary attended University of Michigan, Michigan Technological University and Michigan State University attaining a Masters Degree in Education. She taught in the Oakridge School District for 25 years retiring in 1986. Mary was an active Volunteer for many organizations in the Muskegon Area for many years donating her time and resources to better the community. She was an avid lover of nature and outdoors, participating in and supporting a local outdoor activities group. SURVIVORS Daughter, Sally Reeves of North Olmsted, OH, 2 grandsons Paul Reeves of NV, David Reeves of OH SERVICE There will be no service for Mary. MEMORIAL Gifts may be made to the Mary C. Payne Fund at the Community Foundation for Muskegon County, 425 W. Western Ave, Muskegon, MI 49440.
