Marvin Henry Prielipp, age 95, of Harrison Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026, at Corewell Health Zeeland Hospital with his daughter by his side.
Born on December 26, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan, Marvin was an only child who built a life marked by quiet dedication, independence, and devotion to family. He married the love of his life, Darlene Scalet, in 1953, and together they shared decades of adventures, from European travels and cruises to a memorable journey to Alaska in 2010. Marvin and Darlene often traveled with friends through a group known as the Nomads, creating treasured memories along the way.
A proud graduate of high school, Marvin embarked on a lifelong career with Michigan Consolidated Gas Company (MichCon), serving as a service repairman for roughly 40 years until his retirement. Known for his reliability and work ethic, he took pride in helping customers and mentoring coworkers. In his leisure time, Marvin enjoyed golfing and staying active at the YMCA. He valued simple routines, good company, and the home he maintained well into his mid-90s.
Marvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene, in 2013. He is survived by his daughters, Laurie Prielipp of Holland, MI, and Linda Alberti of California; his daughter, Donna Kay Prielipp; and a step-granddaughter, Tamara Montiel. He will be remembered for his steadfast independence, his gentle humor, and his love for his family.
Cremation has taken place. A committal service will be held in December at Clinton Grove Cemetery on Michigan's east side, where Marvin's ashes will be placed with Darlene in their family niche. Details will be shared with family and friends once finalized.
