Martha (Bjork) Comstock, age 86, went Home to be with Jesus on Thursday, March 1, 2007. She was born May 24, 1920, in Ishpeming, Michigan and grew up in Covington, Michigan in the U.P. She was Valedictorian of her high school class and graduated from Suomi College (Finlandia University) and Northern Michigan University. She married Carl Dean Comstock on August 27, 1952 in Duluth, MN. They moved to Muskegon in 1957. He died in 1980. Martha retired in 1985 after a 40 year teaching career that included schools in western Michigan, the Detroit area, and the last 25 years at Orchard View in Muskegon. She was a member of several retired educational and senior groups. She was also a member of First Lutheran Church in North Muskegon and a member of the Finnish American Society of West Michigan. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting & knitting, plants, cooking, painting, and comparing languages (and her Finnish heritage). She was preceded in death by a brother, Waimo in 1973. Surviving are sons, Dennis and Ronald, of North Muskegon; daughter, Audrey, of Grandville with whom she resided the last several years; 1 aunt, Senia Arndt of Antioch, IL; and extended family in Grand Rapids, including special niece, Nancy Spalenka; and slso cousins in several states, Canada, and Finland. SERVICE Monday, March 5, 2007, 2:00 PM, at Clock Chapel with Rev. William Uetricht officiating. VISITATION Monday, 1 hour prior to the service at Clock Life Story Funeral Home - Muskegon. MEMORIAL: First Lutheran Church.
