Timmer,
Marlene Marie
Muskegon, Michigan
Mrs. Marlene Marie Timmer, age 81, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024. She was born in Greenville, MI on January 27, 1943, to Marvin & Naomi (Jensen) Hansen. Marlene graduated from Greenville High School and then attended Sparrow Nursing School where she became an LPN. She married Fred Timmer on March 26, 1983, and they shared 41 years of marriage this year. While Marlene began her career as a Nurse, her creative nature and vibrant personality led her to a special career change, and she and Fred opened "The Red Geranium Cottage" in Ada, Michigan. Marlene's love for red geraniums resulted in the name of that lovely retail cottage, and she and Fred both shared in the joy of owning and operating it. The Red Geranium Cottage attracted so many shoppers from around the area and became a destination for special gifts for many years. Marlene was also a talented pianist and organist and often played for the churches she attended. Most recently she was a dedicated worshiper at Forest Park Covenant Church where she was a leader of a Women's Fellowship Group and participated in the Forest Park Dental Mission trips. Fred and Marlene also managed the Michillinda Beach Lodge for a few years. She absolutely loved Christmas and Santa Clauses and enjoyed decorating for the Holiday. Marlene always had a passion for red geraniums and her house was filled with artwork of the flowers.
