Mrs. Marjorie "Margie" L. Owen, age 87, passed away Friday, May 30, 2008 at Sanctuary at The Oaks. She was born in Detroit, MI on March 14, 1921 to Clarence and Kate (Shinneman) Clay and resided in Niles, MI before moving to Muskegon in 2004. Mrs. Owen was a member of First Baptist Church of Niles. She worked in her family owned bakery, "Owen Bakery" with her husband, Bill. She loved her flower garden, entertaining friends, but especially her family. Mrs. Owen also was a member of the Eastern Star, and singing was a big part of her life. On August 31, 1940 she married William "Bill" C. Owen, and he preceded her in death on January 18, 2006. SURVIVORS include daughter, Kaye (Robert) Kingsley of Twin Lake, daughter-in-law, Sharon Owen of Dearborn, MI; 4 grandchildren, Michael Owen, Kerry (Michael) Stewart, Amy (Josh) Silvis and Jason Kingsley; 3 great grandchildren, Sophie, Noah, and Molly Stewart; brother, William (Jeanne) Clay of Taylor, MI; and 2 sisters, Betty Clay-Coon of Spring Hill, TN and Jeanne (Harold) Hipshear of Niles, MI. Mrs. Owen was also preceded in death by son, Gary Clay Owen in 1988; brother, Clarence Clay, Jr. and her parents. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be 3 PM Sunday, June 8, 2008 at First Baptist Church (1070 S. Quarterline Rd.) with Revs. John Brown and Jerry Hagans officiating. VISIATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 2-3 PM. Memorial Contributions to First Baptist Church of Muskegon or Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
