Mr. Marion Leslie Frantz, age 93, entered new life on Sunday, June 14, 2015. He was born in Ravenna, Michigan on March 26, 1922 to John & Ione (Wood) Frantz. He married the former Alice Reddy and served his country in the US Army Air Corp. Marion lived a full life with zest and a sense of adventure. He was renowned for his ability to create a feast for his many friends and family. Mr. Frantz especially enjoyed his years at his cottage, Summerhill in Twin Lake where he hosted numerous large gatherings. Marion was always spontaneous and when he saw a cheap airfare, he and Alice would be off to Paris in the blink of an eye. He loved to boast that he had visited that beloved city 17 times. He learned to fly and had his own airplane for a while. Marion was the first person in West Michigan to own a computer, which took up the entire basement of his office building. He was an accountant who gave up his last client at the age of 92. While he was having fun, he also had a compassionate and loving heart. He was active in the Cursillo movement and fought for peace and justice, especially during the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War. Mr. Frantz served on several community boards, including the Girl Scouts, the Friends of the Library, the Literacy Council, the Art Museum and the African American Museum. After the death of his wife he found companionship with Nancy Rubinsky until her death. Marion leaves behind many loyal friends and was especially grateful for the support and friendship of Robert Kendall and Petra Chidrawi. Lastly, Marion would like to give praise to God for creating morel mushrooms and raspberries.
