RADEMAKER, MRS. MARIE I. Flat Rock, MI formerly of Muskegon Mrs. Rademaker was born in Montague, MI on September 23, 1909 nee Marie Irene Robinson & came to Muskegon at the age of seven where she made her home. After graduating from St. Mary's High School, she was married to Arthur G. Rademaker in 1930. They joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Muskegon & Marie became very active in the work of the church. She served as President of Ladies Luther League for 8 years, President of Parent-Teachers Group for 3 years, & President of Trinity Mission Society for 3 years. In addition, she was a choir member for 3 years, a Sunday School teacher for 4 years & directed several of the church plays & pageants. In 1953 the Rademakers transferred their membership to a new mission in Muskegon, now known as St. Mark Lutheran Church. They quickly became very active members of numerous committees & functions, with Marie being elected the first President of the Ladies's Guild the women's organization of the church. When the first of their three children entered school, Mrs. Rademaker began many years of work with the Parent-Teacher Association serving as President of the Nelson School PTA, the Central Junior High School PTA & a member of the Muskegon City Council PTA. In 1946, President Harry S. Truman awarded a Presidential Citation for her work in Muskegon with the American Red Cross, during World War II. In 1950, she was named Muskegon Ideal Mother of the Year, & in 1957, she was named Muskegon's Business Woman of the Year. For ten years, she worked with the Muskegon Goodfellows organization in distribution of Christmas gifts to needy children. After her husband's retirement in 1962, she was Director of Recreational Activities at a large mobile home park in Harlingen, TX for many years. SURVIVORS 1 son, Jack Rademaker of Floral City, FL & 1 daughter, Patricia West of Flat Rock, MI; 9 grandchildren & 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur in 1993 & by her son, Donald in 1982. SERVICE Wednesday, August 27, 2003, 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Dennis L. Lassanske officiating. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION Tuesday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home. MEMORIAL: St. Marks Lutheran Church, Flat Rock, MI or Arbor Hospice, Trenton, MI.
