Marie Fethke Omness

Mrs. Marie M. (Fethke) Omness, age 98, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011. She was born in Vetka, Russia on October 8, 1912 to Jacob & Xenia (Klimoff) DeHudy. She married Albert E. Fethke on May 7, 1938 and he preceded her in death in 1977. She later married Paul W. Omness and he preceded her in death in 2004. Marie was a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School, furthering her schooling at Muskegon Community College, Howell's School of Business and taking many Federal Government Extension courses. She spent 25 years working for the US Government as Chief Administrative Secretary for the Census Bureau, Executive Secretary for the Federal Aviation Agency and US Defense Contract Administration and was an Executive Secretary for Muskegon Osteopathic Hospital. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, volunteering as a Diamond Anniversary Historian, was on the Altar Guild, Luther League and Building Committee. The community was enriched by her involvement in the Red Cross, The Americanization Council, Community Chest, Hackley House, Civic Opera-Port City Guild and Child Guidance. She was den mother, and was a 30 year member & past president of the Quadrangle Business & Professional Women's Club. SURVIVORS Sons, Albert (Denise) Fethke Jr. of Bitely, Gordon (Carol) Fethke of Muskegon; grandchildren, Dale, Jay, Kevin, Bryan & Marc Fethke; great grandchildren, Aaron, Adam, Samantha & Allyson Fethke; many nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Kathryn Echtinaw; brothers, Steve & Fredrick DeHudy. SERVICE Monday, October 3, 2011, 11:00 AM with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Pastor Dennis Lassanske and Rev. Herbert Graupner officiating. Interment at Mona View Cemetery. MEMORIAL: Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or Harbor Hospice
