Marie Mckenzie

Mrs. Marie E. (Skippen) McKenzie, age 85, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. She was born December 28, 1921 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to John and Elise (St. Louis) Skippen and lived in the Muskegon area most of her life. On September 16, 1939, she married Peter McKenzie in Sault Ste. Marie and he preceded her in death on July 16, 2006. Marie was an active member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church where she volunteered in many capacities. For many years, offered her embroidery skills for the baptismal collars that the infants needed for baptism. Marie also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and most importantly, taking care of her family. Marie is SURVIVED by 6 children, Bernie (Pam) McKenzie, Jerry (Jean) McKenzie, Greer Marie (Jim) Munch, Jim (Mary) McKenzie, Ann Priese, and Karl McKenzie; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Madeline Eastman; 2 sisters-in-law, Lucy Quinlin and Chris McInnis. THE FUNERAL LITURGY will be celebrated 2:00 PM Friday, August 31, 2007 at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Julian Reginato presiding. VISITATION with Marie's family will be one hour prior to Mass, 1-2 PM Friday at the church.
