Spunky and full of life, Marguerite Marge Seng was a woman who knew how to have a good time. She loved sharing her love for life with her family and friends, whether by making them laugh or simply by expressing it in her every day actions. The early 1920s were a collage of interesting events. There were power struggles in Russia, Babe Ruth was setting baseball records, and the first Miss America was crowned. But for Samuel and Hattie (Holder) Thalas of Muskegon, Michigan, such were nothing more than headlines in a newspaper. Their lives centered around raising their family and earning a living. On December 1, 1920, the couple was doubly blessed with the birth of twin daughters, who they named Marguerite and Mary. Marges childhood was typical for the times. The economics of the day were tough, but the Thalas were a close family held fast with the things money couldnt buy. Already as a young girl, Marge was so full of life. With her warm, bubbly personality, she was great fun to be around and very socialable, something that stayed with her throughout her life. In 1951, a wonderful thing happened to Marge she married the love of her life, Harry Seng, on September 16, 1951. While Harry worked to support them, Marge devoted herself to being a good wife and homemaker. Although the couple did not have any children of their own, Marge enjoyed doting on her special niece and nephews, who were the only ones who could call her Aunt Maggie. Aside from her family, Marge enjoyed many things in life, like reading, swimming and playing cards. She loved to eat cheese, and her Manhattan was never complete without several olives. Marge was a longtime member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church as well as the 7th Guild of St. Pauls Episcopal Church. In her community, she was an active member of the VFW Post #8846 Auxiliary, and the Muskegon Elks. Marge was a woman who truly knew how to enjoy, cherish and celebrate every moment life had to offer. Her spunk, charm and laughter will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. Marguerite Marge Seng, age 86, died on Friday, September 28, 2007.
