Franklin, Mrs. Margaret Christine Michigan After a short battle with lung cancer, with her family by her side, Margaret went to meet her lord and other family members in heaven, the morning of March 17, 2022. She was born in Watervliet Michigan and then resided in Chicago Illinois with her family. At the age of five, her father packed up the Sweeten family and moved them to the homestead in Montague, where he increased the family from seven to thirteen. Margaret lived the next 90 years on the homestead property raising a family and living life as best she could. She met the love of her life, Raymond Eugene Franklin, and married him May 28, 1947. Together they gave birth to four children, built a home, and lived the remainder of their lives right next door to the home she grew up in. Margaret was very involved ln her family's activities. If her children were doing anything, she would be there with them participating. She said this kept her young, as she did not look as old as her true age. And surprised many people when they asked how old she was and she told them "95". She enjoyed working in her yard, planting flowers, raking leaves (even at the age of 94) and in the vegetable garden that she always had. Margaret was very social and loved talking to people. Many times, while shopping with her, we would look behind us to see if she was still there and she would be missing. We would find her farther back in the isle talking to someone. It could be a complete stranger, it didn't matter to her. She totally adored babies and volunteered with the MOPS program at her church and would gravitate toward any baby when she was out and about. For many years "Maggie", as her sisters and closest friends called her, and her sister Mary would spend their winters in a senior only camp ground in Harlingen Texas until her sister's passing in 2013. Margaret went to her first big music concert with two of her children and one of her great grandchildren, to see Grace Vanderwall and Imagine Dragons, when she was 92 years old. She was possibly the oldest person there and she had a great time. Margaret had to have her nightly ice cream before going to bed. A tradition she shared with several of her sisters. Margaret was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary post 3256 and a member of Rothbury Community Church and enjoyed the fellowship of her brothers and sisters. SURVIVORS She is survived by her children, Gene (Judy) Franklin, Theodore "Ted" (Jean) Franklin, Rose (Steven) Roen, and Peter Franklin.
