Margaret Dilley, age 92, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016. She was born in Elkhart, Indiana on April 24, 1923 to Dr. James A. & Bess (Middleton) Work. Margaret was educated at Stephens College in Missouri and Indiana University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Peggy, as she was known to friends, spent her summers at Sylvan Beach and in 1974 became a permanent resident. She served on Fruitland Township Parks & Recreation, the Board of Appeals and also on the Sylvan Beach Resort Company Board. She was proud of the fact that she was a charter member of both White Lake Historical Society and Smithsonian Magazine. Though trained in classical music, she had a love of the Jazz Era and volunteered for many years at Heartland Nursing Home in Whitehall playing piano along with her friend Bill Ball on tuba, Ron Barkel on guitar and special friend, Tommy Roberts, on banjo. SURVIVORS Son, Thomas Dilley of AZ; daughter, Katherine (William) Davis of MI; grandchildren, Ben (Kristen) Davis of CA and Kerry Davis of NY as well as several nieces and nephews.
