Margaret Ruth Smith was born on September 1, 1928 to George and Edith Smith of Essexville, Michigan. She was the second of four children - Elaine (James Corzine), Edward (Donna), and Mark (Judy). She grew up next door to her sweetheart and future husband, Louis Boehm. Lou (Louis) went off to war (World War II) and returned to marry Margaret on August 21, 1948. Lou finished college at Michigan State University, and they moved to Muskegon. While living in Muskegon, Margaret worked as a secretary until the birth of their first child, Alan (Joan). Two more children were born, Adele (Howard Travis), and David (Tammy).
After children, Margaret returned to school to get a teaching degree at Grand Valley State , followed by a Master of Library Science degree both from Western Michigan University. Margaret enjoyed teaching and being the librarian at Fruitport Elementary School for many years. She was passionate about working with young children on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. Margaret was known to bring neighborhood children to church activities. For years, she visited homebound members, bringing them altar flowers and cake on their birthdays.
Margaret had many other interests. She enjoyed league golfing, swim aerobics, volunteering at Hume-Hackley House as a tour guide, and playing cards. Lou and Margaret traveled extensively throughout the U.S. in an RV, visiting their children, grandchildren, and other friends. Lou always made a point of stopping at the Presidential libraries.

Lou and Margaret enjoyed vacationing with them when while they were growing up. Margaret was blessed with eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings.
