Margaret B. Babcock, age 85, of Ferrysburg passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008, at her home. She was born March 19, 1923, in Flint, MI, to Fred L. and Ethel (Jupp) Clark, and she married Gene F. Babcock on July 22, 1950, in Muskegon. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1985. Mrs. Babcock was a 1941 graduate of Muskegon High School and had attended Muskegon Business College. She worked as a telephone operator in Muskegon during World War II. She moved to the Tri-Cities area from Muskegon 56 years ago and had been employed as a bookkeeper for National Products Display, Inc. for 24 years. A member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Grand Haven, she served as a bookkeeper and volunteer for the St. John's Thrift Shop. She also served on the church altar guild and was a volunteer and treasurer of the Robinson group for the North Ottawa Community Hospital Auxiliary gift shop. She is survived by her five sons: Gerald E. (Deborah) Babcock of East Lansing, James R. (Antoinette) Babcock of Montgomery Village, MD, John F. (Cheryl) Babcock of Sacramento, CA, Mark C. (Kathryn Walenga) Babcock of Holland, and Robert A. Babcock of Spring Lake; ten grandchildren: Case (Lisa) Babcock, Rich and Marileigh Vietheer, and Lacey, Zach, Robie, Sara, Ricky, Emma, and Jack Babcock; one great-grandchild, Riley Vietheer; a sister, Joyce Gibson of Twin Lake; and two sisters-in-law, Virginia DeWitt and Dorothy Clark of Muskegon. The service for Margaret will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Grand Haven with Rev. John Laycock presiding. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church.
