Mabel Emma Virag

VIRAG, MRS. MABEL EMMA Fruitport, MI Mabel Emma Virag, age 82, was called home to God's family in heaven on Thursday, September 25, 2003. Mabel was a resident of Fruitport Township for most of her adult life, and together with her husband Steve, raised a family of three sons and four daughters. Mabel was born in Leelanau County near Traverse City, MI on March 14, 1921 to Adolph and Amanda LaVanture, and was part of a family that included three sons and six daughters. Her husband Steve was called home to God's family in 1993 after nearly 55 years of marriage. Mabel's three brothers, Willard, Eddie and Pete preceded her in her journey to God's home, as did two of her sisters, Betty Quick and Millie Ogborn. Besides enjoying and taking pride in her 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, Mabel's interests included being an enthusiastic collector of many things, most notably music boxes, glass animals, and different types of religious items, especially Madonnas. One of her favorite pastimes was attending garage sales and visiting antique stores with her friends and members of her family, looking for that very special treasure. SURVIVORS 3 sons, Steve Jeanne Virag of IA, Jerry Virag of Nunica, MI & Gary Paula Virag of OH; 4 daughters, Mary Dawn Jim Cooper of Fruitport, MI, Diane Ed Irwin of Fruitport, MI, Pam Ernie Ryan of NC & Robin Virag of AZ; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Eva Morton of AZ, Jenny Davis of Spring Lake, MI & Ethel Gene Weaver of AZ; numerous caring nieces & nephews; and several very dear friends. SERVICE Tuesday, September 30, 2003, 4:00 PM at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Grand Haven, MI with Fr. William Langlois officiating.
