Mrs. Mabel Roselun Dake, age 88, died late Saturday evening, January 19, 2008. Mrs. Dake was born November 25, 1919 in Joliet, IL to Frank Coleman and Mabel Lucy (Lukins) Pierce, Sr. She has been a resident of the Muskegon area since marrying Rex Freeman Dake on November 28, 1936. Rex passed away on December 19, 2005. Mabel was a member of Wolf Lake United Methodist Church. Earlier in life, she had worked at Gerber Baby Foods but gave up employment there to become a loving and caring wife and mother. She was also employed as a seasonal worker for the Muskegon Celery Co-op and Duffy Monts of Bailey, MI. Mabel is SURVIVED by her children, Rex E. Dake, Mabel "Ann" (Earl) Kersting, Rebecca (Roger) Hancock, all of Muskegon, Joseph (Pam) Dake of Fruitport and Claudia (Harry) Clark of Florida; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Dake; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren; 5 step great-great grandchildren; special sister, Frances Benton Walker; sister-in-law, Thelma Pierce; brother-in-law, Arthur (Roseann) Dake; cousin, Florence Bradowski; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Dake was also preceded in death by her parents; 1 son, Frank Dake; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 step great-grandchild; 2 brothers, Frank Coleman Pierce and John Theodore Pierce and 1 sister, Isabell Brewer. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Wolf Lake United Methodist Church, 370 Vista Terrace, with Pastor Bobby Cabot officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday (this evening) at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue 231 726-5210 and one hour prior to the service (12-1PM) at the church. Memorials in Mabel's name may be made to her family.
