Lucy Overeem

Mrs. Lucy C. Overeem, age 94, died Monday afternoon, September 24, 2007 in Grand Rapids. She was born July 17, 1913 in Muskegon to Leonard and Kate (VanderMolen) Hollar and had been a Muskegon resident most of her life. Mrs. Overeem was a member of Unity Reformed Church. On June 25, 1938 she married Fred William Overeem in Muskegon who preceded her in death on May 7, 2004. SURVIVORS include 2 children, Frederic J. (Mildred) Overeem of Rockford, Kathleen Messenger of Grand Haven; 5 grandchildren, David (Traci) Overeem, Karen (Don) Phelps, Douglas Messenger, Edward (MaryJo) Messenger, Rachel (Scott) Shank; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by 6 brothers and sisters. SERVICES will be 3:00 PM Friday at Unity Reformed Church (1521 Porter Rd.) with Rev. James Bos officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 and one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to the Alzheimer's Association will be appreciated.
