Mrs. Lucy K. Chippewa, age 58, passed away Friday, September 7, 2007 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born July 15, 1949 in Muskegon to Arnold and Alberta (Dion) Antekier and lived in the area her entire life. On July 10, 1971, she married Clifford J. Chippewa in Grand Rapids. Lucy was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a frequent retreatant at St. Lazare's Retreat House in Spring Lake. She was also active with the Homeschooling Mother's Group from St. Lazare's. SURVIVORS include her husband, Cliff; 3 daughters, Kara Chippewa of Grand Haven, Sara (Thomas) Chippewa-Garcia of Urbana, IL, and Elizabeth Chippewa of Grand Haven; 3 grandchildren, Jacob Chippewa and Catherine and Victoria Garcia; 6 brothers, Ronald (Joanne) Antekier, Kurt Wolfgang, Jerome Antekier, Rev. Fr. Charles Antekier, Jerard (Mary Katherine) Antekier, and Andrew (Susan) Antekier; 3 sisters, Ann Paula Bostrom, Delores Antekier, and Virginia (James) Wier; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 3 sisters, Maralese, Bernadette, and Martha Antekier. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas P. Page as celebrant and her brother, the Rev. Fr. Charles Antekier as homilist. INTERMENT will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. VISITATION with Lucy's family will be 6-9 PM Monday at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565 The Rosary will be lead by Fr. Antekier at 8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home.
