Louis Perri

PERRI, MR. LOUIS N. Muskegon, MI Mr. Louis Perri, age 82, entered into everlasting life on Monday evening, November 25, 2002 at his home in N. Muskegon, MI. He was born October 20, l920 in Muskegon, MI to Pasquale & Anna Costabile Perri. A first generation American, he earned a Congressional appointment to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, New York. Upon graduation he was commissioned a Naval Officer in 1944 & served in the Pacific aboard the USS Allendale during World War II. After the War he went into business & owned & operated Perri's Shell Service Station. He continued to serve in the Naval Reserve & retired at the rank of Lieutenant Commander in l980 & was a past Commanding Officer of the former Muskegon Naval Reserve Unit. He was elected to the N. Muskegon City Council in November 1962, having served on the council for 14 years. On December 9, l976, the City of North Muskegon passed a resolution on behalf of its citizens thanking Councilman Perri for his loyal & conscientious service. He was a communicant of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Muskegon. SURVIVORS He is survived by Helen Marie Buckley his wife of 55 years; 5 daughters, Helen Ann Evans, Jeff of N. Muskegon, MI, Captain Mary Perri Crawford, USN, Keith, dec. of Springfield, VA, Charlene Perri Knue of Nashua, NH, Margaret Perri Goldberg, Benjamin of Rockville Centre, NY & Elizabeth Jurkas, George of Laketon Township, Muskegon, MI; 2 brothers, Alfred Perri of N. Muskegon, MI & William Perri of Muskegon, MI; 1 sister, Jenny Flora of Roosevelt Park, MI; 8 grandchildren, Matthew & Michael Crawford, Elizabeth Knue, Daniel & Gregory Goldberg & Katie, Jim & Jeffrey Jurkas. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Perri & Robert Perri; a sister, Rose Perri & by a son-in-law, Commander Keith E. Crawford, USN. SERVICE Saturday, November 30, 2002, 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Ernest Bernott officiating. Interment at Laketon Township Cemetery.
