Lottie Fay Aikens-Jones, age 80, of Muskegon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 24, 1946, in Rome, Georgia, to Aron Coolidge Watkins and Elizabeth (Battle) Watkins, Lottie's family moved to Muskegon during her childhood. A proud graduate of Muskegon High School, she pursued her calling in nursing, earning her LPN degree from Muskegon Community College. Lottie dedicated 36 years of her life to caring for others as a compassionate and respected nurse at Hackley Hospital before her retirement.

Lottie was a woman of deep faith and an active member of Emmanuel Free Church in Spring Lake, and occasionally worshiped with Holy Trinity Church in Muskegon. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her profession. As a Foster Grandparent with AmeriCorps Seniors, she was lovingly known as "Granny" to the children she mentored, who showered her with love and handmade get-well cards. Her ability to easily make friends and her joy in the water shone through in her regular YMCA aquatics classes.

Family was the center of her life. She nurtured special relationships with each grandchild, celebrating growth and resilience with a meaningful tattoo she shared with her granddaughter: a cocoon, caterpillar, and butterfly with the words "give yourself time". Lottie's legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family and community will be profoundly missed.

She is survived by her children: Dwayne (Jesse Mae) Watkins, Ellery (Susan) Gill, Samantha (Troy) Norman, and DeAndre McQullar; her siblings: James (Desiree) Render, Rochelle Gill, and Angelica McQullar; and a loving host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Louis Dean Jones; former husbands, Stacy Gill and Sundra Aikens; and her grandchildren, Keyla Watkins and Kasey Gill.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Lottie's life will be held at Emmanuel Free Church, 17737 West Spring Lake Rd., at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 25, 2026. A luncheon will immediately follow for a time of continued fellowship. Final interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, where she will rest with Louis Jones. The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. In care of the family, floral arrangements can be sent to Clock Funeral Home.
