Lorraine "Dottie" Baker

Mrs. Lorraine L. "Dottie" Baker, age 90, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013. She was born in Ludington, MI on November 15, 1922 to Anton & Josephine (Miller) Chvala and married Albert J. Baker on June 15, 1968. Mrs. Baker had been employed in the Credit Department at Sears & Roebuck. She was a member of Hope Reformed Church and Grand Haven VFW Auxiliary, Northside Seniors board member where she did the newsletter for 21 years. Lorraine and husband, Al helped organize the Northside Serenaders and they sang with them for 12 years. She also sang with the Melodears until 2013. She and Al enjoyed dancing, fishing, traveling and gardening. Dottie loved to cook and bake, still baking bread months before her passing. Dottie will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her captivating stories of her life. She was an avid fan of Notre Dame, MSU and Reeths-Puffer. Dottie's greatest joy was attending her great grandchildren's games and activities. SURVIVORS Sons, William (Bev) Baker of MN, Jon Sariti of CA, Jon (Sharon) Matthews of FL, Michael Matthews of N. Muskegon; daughters, Susan (Gary) Dunn of IN, Mary (Don) Johnson of N. Muskegon; grandchildren, Scott (Lara), Stacey, Micah, Rachel, Tammi, Ryan (Nicki), Scott (Molly), Todd (Trish) & Kelly (Kerry); 13 great grandchildren; brother, Bro. Joseph Chvala of Notre Dame. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Albert Baker; sons, Timothy Baker and William Matthews; sisters, Mabel, Rose, and Helen; brothers, Tony, George & Richard. SERVICE Friday, September 6, 2013, 5:00 PM with visitation one hour prior to the service at Hope Reformed Church with Rev. Steven Hyma officiating. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery. MEMORIAL: Harbor Hospice Poppen House or Hope Reformed Church Memorial Fund.
