Loree, Rita

"The Doll Lady" Mrs. Rita Loree, age 81, of Hart, Michigan passed away February 14, 2006 at her son's home. The symbols of Valentine's Day will always be reminders to her family of her love and kindness. Mrs. Loree was born in Effingham, IL on December 26, 1924 to John and Julia (Utz) Terstegge. She had been employed by Dr. V. Dale Barker and Vrbanac, Davis and Barker MD's of Hart for 25 years. Mrs. Loree was an avid contract bridge player and skilled seamstress. Her handsewn and embroidered cloth dolls were popular with buyers at area art and craft fairs who returned year after year looking for the "doll lady". Each doll featured a heart with the words "I love you" embroidered on the chest. Mrs. Loree is survived by her son H. Andrew (Cathy) Loree of Spring Lake, granddaughter Meghan Loree of Spring Lake, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by four sisters and one brother. A private memorial service will be held in accordance with her wishes, and there will be no visitation. A time of remembering and sharing with friends will be scheduled in the summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hart Area Public Library or Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
