There were many things that enriched Lois Zubers life through the years, yet, there was nothing of greater significance to her than the relationships she shared with those around her. She was never focused on building wealth according to the worlds measure; but, she fully grasped the notion that it is through loving others that we are richly blessed. Lois loved being a mother; but she just may have argued that it was being a grandmother that was her greatest gift; for she knew grandchildren are sunshine to the soul. Some people think that to be strong is to avoid pain; but, in reality, the strongest people are those who feel it, understand it, and accept it. Lois possessed that quiet strength; she understood the joy and the pain of life. We who are left yet behind will deeply miss her; and her memory will remain a lasting treasure; at moments when we miss her so much; we will just touch Loiss memory in our mind and send her a hug. The name Lois means: superior, better. And Lois portrayed the name with all honor. Through out her rich and rewarding life Lois brought joy to those around her; she was kindhearted, generous, thoughtful and much fun to be with. she was a superior warrior of faith and had a natural spunk about her. Lois was a Michigan girl; from day one. She attended school at the Reeths-Puffer School System. Lois was easy going; had many friends; and truly enjoyed roller skating at the Curve Crest and Roll arena; it is easy to visualize Lois speeding around those floors; and her catching the eye of a young man named: Ray Zuber. From the beginning it was like love at first sight; inseparable they desired to spend the rest of their lives together; so on October 10th, 1959 Ray and Lois tied the Knot. Lois began working at the Michigan Spring in Muskegon; while Ray worked at Shaw Walker, also in Muskegon. They called home the childhood home of Rays; 1869 Henry Street; where the blessing of their only child, a son named Rick was born. During the 1960s Ray and Lois purchased ten acres on Twin Lake. A poet once expressed: In the spring of my youth it was my lot; to search for a haunt with such loveliness; of wild lake, and tall pines; to build the dreams of my life upon that spot. Ray and Lois did this together as a couple; they created a home filled with memories that they carried with them in the years to come. Lois was a continually busy woman; creating a home; working a job at Johnson Technology; caring for her husband; raising her son. Yet, she knew to also have fun. Car shows, Motorcycles, parties, and events; many friends to share with like Marilyn Watkins and Carolyn and Arch Kiel. Rarely missing a car show; those motorcycles would hum; traveling to Sturgis, Milwaukee and St. Ignace. To Lois it did not matter where the road would lead; she just so enjoyed knowing she was taking a ride. As life continued on; and dreams were being fulfilled; along came that sunshine to bring her lasting joy. Her first granddaughter, Mindee was born, such joy a heart has never known. Then, along came Brad-lee, a grandson so deeply loved; and then another treasure came when Megan was born. Life road can be unknown, So, Lois felt blessed to live to see the birth of her great-grandson Mitchell in 2004. Life offers sorrow; life can be blue; with the deaths of those whom pass before you; the death of those that Lois so loved: her father, her mother, her husband and her grandson left sorrow upon her soul. Yet, Lois knew the best way to honor each and everyone was to continue to live and embrace everyday with love. As difficult as it was to live without Ray and the others she loved; Lois embraced each day as she continued to live in Branch City. She continued her travels by taking trips. To Florida, Jamaica, Hawaii, Bahamas and Golf Shores, Alabama. Lois began dealing with the health challenge of cancer in 2007. And she died Friday, February 3, 2012 in Florida. Sorrow here upon this earth; as the dawn breaks where Lois has gone. Every day we will embrace her in our heart; and hold dear the memory of this special lady. Mrs. Lois M.
