Lisa C. Metzdorf, age 71, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024. She was born in Lafayette, IN on December 7, 1952 to Robert & Katherine (Bickel) Clark and married Thomas Metzdorf on July 29, 1978. Lisa graduated from North Muskegon High School, then received a Nursing Diploma from Hackley School of Nursing and became a registered nurse. While working full time at Hackley, Lisa earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University, Wharton Nurse Executive Fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Masters of Public Administration in Healthcare Concentration from Western Michigan University. She had been employed at Hackley Hospital for over 23 years, starting as a Supervisor of Radiation Oncology, and then to Chief Nurse Executive/Director Cancer Services. After leaving Hackley, Lisa started Focus First, a healthcare recruitment firm which she did for several years. Lisa returned to healthcare as the Regional Director for Hospice of Michigan then the Executive Clinical Director of Hospice of North Ottawa Community. Ending her many healthcare related endeavors Lisa became a realtor with Real Estate West, a role she dearly loved. Lisa was an active member of the Muskegon Rotary Club, a board member of the American Cancer Society and Harbor Hospice, was involved with the Women’s Division at the United Way and spent many years as the Director of Nursing for Camp Catch a Rainbow a week long cancer camp for children provided through the YMCA and American Cancer Society. Lisa was not an outdoorsy kind of person, but enjoyed finding new recipes to try cooking for family and friends. She raised three sons who love to cook and are very creative in their culinary skills. She loved knitting and sewing, skills she learned from her mother. She loved to spend time with Friends, and found what good and supportive friends she had during the years she battled through Breast Cancer treatments. Throughout her life she was always focused on service and helping others. Lisa was kind, devoted and compassionate and will be truly missed by all the many lives she has touched.


SURVIVORS

Husband, Thomas Metzdorf; 3 sons, Bryan (Julie Lowry) Metzdorf; Scott Metzdorf; Dylan Metzdorf; sister in-law, Susan Kane; brother in-law, Bruce (Ann) Metzdorf. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Jeff Clark and Greg Clark.
