Linda Cowles Bascom Pitsos
Born: October 24, 1942
Died: November 26, 2023
If on November 26, 2023, you were suddenly gripped by an overwhelming desire to burst into show tunes while simultaneously high-kicking like a sequined Rockette, you were graced by the ebullient spirit of Linda Pitsos.
Linda came cooing into the world on October 24, 1942, to parents Robert and Janet Marie Bascom of Glens Falls, New York. She was a creative child, known for her drawing, designing of paper dolls, and horseback riding.
As a student at Fort Edward High School, New York, Linda was a 'socialite'; found often on theater committees, prom courts, and creative writing groups. She graduated from Green Mountain College, Vermont, in 1962 with her Associate's Degree. 'Bask', as she was called, discovered her strengths in shorthand, Latin, tolerance for Manhattans, and a wicked talent in the game of snooker.
Linda spent many years on her life adventure throughout New England. Whether it was ogling her neighbor, Pat Boone (pre-white shoes), having lunch with Elvis Presley (just after his release of 'Hound Dog'), surviving being hypnotized to speak fluent French, falling into a farmer's field into barbed wire, interviewed by the CIA, or being saved from a foiled kidnapping plot, she could have written quite a memoir.
Linda moved to Michigan for a 'calmer life', while thriving as an Executive Secretary in West Bloomfield and Wixom (MI). With a work ethic as strong as her favorite double-shot Absolut Bloody Mary, she loved being involved with local government and senior citizen advocacy groups.
Her love languages included strong hand gestures, sarcasm-laden comments, perfect Jell-O shot making, and abundant donations to many animal charity organizations. Linda's favorite hobbies included watching true crime programs, collecting tiaras, obsessively spending on JTV jewelry, and singing her favorite Barry Manilow hits. She was never too far from a cup of coffee (with the 'good stuff') an ice-cold Coke, an article of leopard-print clothing, and her latest favorite performing artists, Michael Buble and Snoop Dogg.
Linda is survived by; her daughter, Jennifer Fairweather, her sister, Deborah (Jesse) Eberhart, her nephews, John and Christopher Rawlins, her ' adopted sons', Aaron (Patti) Reed and John Matson; her best friend, Bobbi Sanborn, and her furbaby, Sydney Jane.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Jodie Marie Pitsos.
Many heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers of the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence.
Cremation has taken place and per her wishes, a Celebration of Life (with Bloody Marys) will be held in the future.
