Leroy Young

Mr. LeRoy L. Young, age 81, passed away Tuesday morning, August 14, 2007 in Muskegon. He was born on January 21, 1926 in Milbank, SD to Harold and Cora (Munson) Young and had been a resident of the Muskegon area for most of his life. Mr. Young was self employed and had been a contracted design engineer for many local companies for over 30 years before his retirement. He was a veteran of the United States Army and had served in WWII. Mr. Young was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church. He was very innovative and enjoyed tinkering with things to try and make them better. On October 5, 1944, he married the former Helen E. Check and she preceded him in death on February 16, 2007. He is survived by 1 son, Lawrence J. (Theresa) Young of N. Muskegon; 1 daughter, Susan Y. (Bruce) Sobbry of Milan, MI; 4 grandchildren, Andrena (Andy) Willett, Nick (Brittney) Young, Megan Sobbry and Kate Sobbry; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Lionel (Dorothy) Young of Muskegon and 1 sister, Beverly (Charles) Davenport of Fruitport. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen and 1 sister, Dorothy Southland. The FUNERAL LITURGY will be 11AM Friday at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church - Marian Chapel with Rev. Fr. Julian Reginato presiding. VISITATION will be from 6-9PM Thursday at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with the Rosary prayed at 7PM. INTERMENT will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. MEMORIALS in Mr. Young's name may be made to Harbor Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
