Leroy Gannon

Mr. Leroy W. (Roy) Gannon, age 83, passed away April 15, 2007. He was born on March 24, 1924 to Wallace and Tressa (Christensen) Gannon in Muskegon. He married Evelyn Osborne (deceased) in Riverside, CA in 1947. He graduated from Muskegon High School in 1948. Roy was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the atomic bomb test site at Bikini in 1946. He was active as a leader of the Sea Scouts, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little League Baseball, and Little League Football and was an avid sportsman and golfer. He retired after 39 years from Teledyne Continental Motors in 1988 as a supervisor. Roy married Letha (Lee) Simon of Muskegon in 1988. He was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife and best friend Lee; children, Mary Salter of Muskegon, Paul (Linda) Gannon of New Era, John Gannon of Golden, CO; step-children, James Simon of Tooele, UT; Gary Simon of Ft. Worth, TX; and Anne Marie Simon of Lansing. Also surviving are grandchildren, Stephen, Danielle and Kristen Salter and Andrew, Tristin, Thomas and John Jr. Gannon. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be 11 AM Friday at Lakeside United Methodist Church (2160 Crozier Ave.) in Muskegon with Pastor David Selleck officiating. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service.
