Leonard "Bud" Whalen

WHALEN, Mr. LEONARD ''BUD'' Grand Haven Mr. Leonard ''Bud'' Whalen, age 77, died Wednesday, February 18, 2004. He was born in Reed City, MI on June 2, 1926 to Benjamin & Margaret Martin Whalen & married Betty Dawson on January 26, 1946 in South Miles, North Carolina. Mr. Whalen retired from Eagle Ottawa in December of 1989. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. Mr. Whalen enjoyed his family, college basketball, and hunting with his sons. He always gave a helping hand. He was a member of the NRA, and the Re-Member group that helped the Lakota Indians. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and also a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors: His wife Betty of 58 years; 2 sons, J. Michael Kathie & Benjamin Linda Whalen both of Grand Haven; 1 daughter, Marjorie Doug Voss of Grand Haven; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 1 sister, Lucille Russell of Grand Haven; many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a baby daughter, Betty Faye, and 5 sisters. Services: Saturday, February 21, 2004, 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Karin Fowler officiating. Interment at Historic Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, 1-2 PM at the church. MEMORIAL: Hospice of North Ottawa or First Presbyterian Church. Clock Funeral Home. Grand Haven
