Mr. Courneya, age 72, died October 17, 2008. He was born May 12, 1936, in Standish, to Ernest and Estelle (Angers) Courneya. On September 26, 1958, in Gladwin, he married the former Connie Behnke, who preceded his in death in 1991. As a hair stylist, he owned and operated Leonard's D'Arts Coiffeure in Whitehall and was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. Mr. Courneya served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Michael and Gregory. FAMILY: His children, Lisa (Brian) Bennett of Twin Lake, Timothy Courneya and Patrick (Jennifer Fretty) Courneya, both of Whitehall and Michelle Courneya of Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren; 1 sister, Marie Zettel of Gladwin; 3 brothers, Donald (Annie) Courneya of Beaverton, James (Andy) Courneya of Gladwin and William (Cheryl) Courneya of Flint; special friends, Roger & Mary Jacobs of Montague. FUNERAL LITURGY: Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at 11:00am from the St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Donn P. Tufts presiding. Interment will be made in Mt. Calvary Cemetery - Montague. A ROSARY will be recited at 7pm, Tuesday at the Clock Funeral Home in Whitehall. VISITING HOURS: Tuesday, 5-8pm, at the funeral home in Whitehall.
