Leonard James Carter Sr. A.K.A Mannie or Leo was born on April 28, 1967 and was called home on May 16, 2022. Leo was definitely a man that loved fishing and family. He attended the Muskegon Public School system before moving to Memphis Tennessee where he attended Shelby County School District. Leo return to Michigan and finished up with the Grand Rapids School District.. Leo's love for his family was deeply felt by those who embraced him. Leo was very crafty with his hands and mechanical repairs when he put his mind to it. The name "Mannie" was given to him at an early age because he was always being the protector of his siblings and wanted to be the "man" of any and everything. Leo lived his life the way he wanted and did not mind taking a few risks as well. Leo leaves to cherish his memory 2 daughters Sharda Rochelle Carter, Jacqueline Rochelle Carter, Uncle James Carter, 2 Aunts Diane (Walter) Williams of St. Louis Missouri and Diana (William) Beverly of Grand Rapids, 11 siblings Rochelle Varona, Alice Hevey of Fountain Hills, AZ, Jerome (Thelma) Carter of Kalamazoo MI, Tracy Carter of Warren MI, Lynell Spears, Valarie Bailey, Connie Bailey, Lafarrell Aikens, Latricia Aikens, Lamera Franklin and Sacorra Sharp all of Muskegon. Eight grandchildren Brandon Upton, Davon Willis, Je'Von Carter, Jaz'Marie Carter, Le'onna Marie Carter, Amoura Lynn Carter, Yareli Vasquez and Leo Carter. There is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a close acquaintance Lenora Williams. Leo is preceded in death by his mother Jacqueline (Carter) Thompson, father Ikie Lee Franklin, 2 sons Michael James Carter, and Leonard James Carter Jr, and brother Jed Spears. The family of Leonard James Carter senior would like to thank everyone for the prayers the phone calls It is definitely appreciated and will be acknowledged at a later date. Memorial is set for may 29th 2022 at the Smith Ryerson Center The time will be from 5pm to 9pm.
