Leona Frances Hilt

Leona Hilt, age 94, passed away Tuesday morning, November 20, 2007 at her home. She was born May 16, 1913 in Muskegon to Jay D. and Frances (Fuller) Kitchen and was a life resident. She married Raymond A. Hilt in October of 1931 and he preceded her in death in August of 1982. Leona was a very talented homemaker who loved to garden, both flowers and vegetables. She was especially fond of roses. She loved birds and wildlife and taught her children to respect all varieties of life forms down to and especially garden toads. Leona was a talented artist and loved to work in papier mache, making statuettes, angels, and tree ornaments. Each holiday time she opened what she called "Santa's Workshop" in her kitchen and dining room, making special candles, gifts, and Christmas cookies, and candies for the family. She was a talented seamstress, making many of her own clothes, curtains, and drapes. She also made china dolls and handmade victorian clothes for them. SURVIVORS 3 children, Raymond J. (Jackie) Hilt of Muskegon, Susan E. Geiger of Rochester, MI; and Bruce A. (Linda) Hilt of Port Huron, MI; 3 grandchildren, Amy S. (Noel) Harrington of Muskegon, Matthew Hilt of Port Huron, MI, and Holly (Bill) Hartman of Warrenton, VA; 1 great- granddaughter, Clara Hartman SERVICE There will be no visitation. A private family memorial service will be held later. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. MEMORIAL: Harbor Hospice or the SS Milwaukee Clipper.
