Leona Mae Henderson, age 70, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI on February 22, 1954 to Robert & Dorothy Allen and graduated from Elkhart Central High School and later from cosmetology school in Elkhart, Indiana. While in Indiana she worked for Reliant Cleaning and also for Goshen Rubber Works. Leona later moved to Grand Rapids, MI where she worked at House of Styles before eventually settling in Muskegon. For over 20 years she worked at the Clock Funeral Home as a housekeeper and a Family Center Hostess. She also continued to be a hairdresser for friends and relatives on the side. Leona was very strong in her faith and became a Pastor for Life Transformation Ministries, always eager to share her journey to the Lord. In her last few years she moved around a bit, living with other relatives until Alzheimers started to take its toll and she moved in with her daughter in Holland. Leona will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Daughter, Travanda (Robert) Payton-D'Oyly; son, Jason Payton; grandchildren, Angela Brown/Payton, Katden Payton-D'Oyly; great grandchildren, Tariq Brown, Tracy Brown; sister, JoAnn McGaughy, Rosemarie Gunn; brothers, Brian Gunn, Willie Gunn. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Allen; Mother Dorothy Porter, siblings Dorothy Hudson, Robert Allen, MaryLee Hudson

SERVICE

Tuesday, July 9, 2024, 11:00 AM at Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Pastors Carlos Ramos and Bishop James Duncan officiating. Interment in Oakhill Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
